Employing the Next Generation of Ed Policy Wonks

It's the time of year when college seniors are hitting their career centers, and I have started getting calls and e-mail from people interested in education policy or research jobs next year. I know of lots of places doing this work, but the kicker is whether they'll hire fresh Bachelors' grads... it usually requires "insider" information to figure that out. If you know of places that hire the young and enthusiastic, post them here?

American Enterprise Institute
Center for American Progress
Various Hill positions w/ members of the House and Senate Committees

I know y'all know of more...

I get a lot of research position openings from GW and Maryland and I know AED is hiring.

why kindling flames?

Socrates wrote, "Education is the kindling of a flame; not the filling of a vessel." This edublog is a place for us to come together as students, to learn more about the topics that interest us, and to engage in meaningful conversation about education policy. This site is not the end of our search for knowledge, but rather the beginning. A kindled flame.

who are we?

We are a group of education policy students at The George Washington University who are attempting to create dialogue, discuss policy issues, and build community. We come from diverse education experiences. We are teachers, policymakers, parents, activists, and researchers. While we may come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives, we are united under a common belief in the importance of education.
