More Value-Added Assessment

Eduwonk points to fellow Education Sector-ite Thomas Toch's article on value-added assessment in this issue of Washington Monthly.

Again, it's a newish approach that does have its detractors (though little is mentioned of them in this article). Yet, value-added assessment is an interesting concept that I'm sure won't be going away any time soon.

why kindling flames?

Socrates wrote, "Education is the kindling of a flame; not the filling of a vessel." This edublog is a place for us to come together as students, to learn more about the topics that interest us, and to engage in meaningful conversation about education policy. This site is not the end of our search for knowledge, but rather the beginning. A kindled flame.

who are we?

We are a group of education policy students at The George Washington University who are attempting to create dialogue, discuss policy issues, and build community. We come from diverse education experiences. We are teachers, policymakers, parents, activists, and researchers. While we may come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives, we are united under a common belief in the importance of education.
