NYC Public School's New Years Resolution

Joel Klein recently appointed Chris Cerf, former president of Edison Schools, will become deputy chancellor for operational strategy, human capital and external affairs. This is a crucial move by the chancellor to create infrastructure for private partnerships and influence in our public education system. Keep watch on this one....

why kindling flames?

Socrates wrote, "Education is the kindling of a flame; not the filling of a vessel." This edublog is a place for us to come together as students, to learn more about the topics that interest us, and to engage in meaningful conversation about education policy. This site is not the end of our search for knowledge, but rather the beginning. A kindled flame.

who are we?

We are a group of education policy students at The George Washington University who are attempting to create dialogue, discuss policy issues, and build community. We come from diverse education experiences. We are teachers, policymakers, parents, activists, and researchers. While we may come from different backgrounds and have different perspectives, we are united under a common belief in the importance of education.
